Settlement Worker – Spanish Speaking

CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. To this end, CCS is seeking a Settlement Worker to provide settlement information and referral services to immigrants and refugees in the Region of Peel to aid in their settlement and integration into the community. This is a temporary position ending March 31, 2023, possibility of extension. The position works mainly onsite.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide client-centered settlement information and referral services including assessment, information and orientation services for immigrants and refugees at other community partners’ locations
  • Use initial assessment of newcomers to develop personalized settlement plans
  • Provide case management and supportive follow-up services
  • Facilitate appropriate internal and external referrals and access to services in the community
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with host agencies
  • Build partnerships with other service providers to connect clients with appropriate resources
  • Organize, plan, facilitate group sessions as required by contract, and are in line with client needs
  • Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services
  • Participate in regular program, team and regional meetings
  • Maintain and update all client information in the OCMS database
  • Prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to supervisor as required
  • Other related duties as required

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Social Work degree or Social Service Worker diploma from recognized institution or equivalent combination of training and work experience in Human Services field
  • Previous work experience in settlement services / community work
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection and reporting
  • Demonstrated commitment to client-centred services delivery and case management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available community resources and services
  • Superior interview, assessment, analytical and problem solving skills
  •  Ability to work effectively in partnership with other service providers
  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills with clients, other agencies and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively both in a team setting as well as independently
  • Previous experience using MS Office, database software and internet search engines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Written and verbal fluency in Spanish language required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is an asset

 

 

Location: Brampton

Hours: 28 hrs per week, occasional evenings and weekends as required

Compensation: $27.16 - $28.65 (based on experience)
